Its been a strange spring in union falls but this weekend was beautiful. Walleyes started hitting about a week ago with some catching there limits. A couple nice pike were landed in the 5 pound range. No black flies to speak of and warm weather, time to hit the water.

Sounds like a perfect time to catch walleyes. In the spring, Walleyes are either in a river current or right close to shore. But based from my experience when fishing with my dad, walleyes are hermit-like, so they are lurking in the shadows when the sun is up. Hence, in the daytime and in early spring, you will most likely catch smaller males, and the bigger females usually take off into deeper water during the day. Worms and leeches work best as bait when luring walleyes. Happy fishing!

Though this article was written last 2016, I want to thank you for this update! It seems like Spring 2016 was fun because a lot of things have happened. In terms of our environment, it's fun because there were insects and the water was calm. It was a good sign that spring cam a bit early, How I wish you could have posted photos of the spring you are talking about so we could have seen it. It's always nice to read a story but having something to look at is one thing that I ant to achieve!
