Current high temps are in the 80,s and water temp is 71, nice for swimming , fishing or kayaking. Betty Paul recently caught a nice pike and walleye though her husband Sam said it was due to his captaining skills. Matt and Ted from Indiana also had a good week as well. One of note is a nice 6 pound bass. Thanks for the pics guys. Andy ( Evil Caneval ) Hellar also caught a nice pike and walleye , though his were due to luck. Mr. smith and I went out about a week ago for about 3 hours and did well. We landed 4 walleye, had to others to the boat as well as pan fish. We were trolling crawler harnesses over varying depths. My son Baily is determined to catch the biggest fish of the year so we should have more to report soon. I have also added new pics to the picture page, check them out.
Fathers Day weekend is coming up and the weather looks great. Water temp is about 70, Good for fishing or swimming. Walleyes are being caught on grabbers and plugs. The largest Ive seen was a 2.6 pounde caught be Andy ( evil caneval ) Hellar. I also heard tail of pike tail dancing on the surface like a bass would. Not a common thing but one fisherman had two pike do it last week. We do have rental boats and kayaks available this week end for those interested in spending a day on the water. Call ahead and reserve one or take a chance and just stop in. Hopefully I'll get to enjoy a day with my kids on the lake as well. Happy fathers day, maybe I'll see you on the water.
The weather could not be nicer. The surface water temp is about 69 and the walleyes are biting. Yesterday 3 boats brought in 17 walleye several pike and pan fish. The bass are aggressive but not yet in season. The walleyes were caught on crawler rigs ( green mountain grabbers ) , the pike on plugs. Its starting out to be a great year to spend a little time on the lake.
Thanks for the pics bob, hope you enjoyed your stay. There hasn't been many people fishing yet but I can tell you what I know so far. Surface water temp is about 60 and today 7 walleye were caught. they used Jigs and green mountain grabbers. Pike ranging from 24 to 36 inches have been landed over the last 3 weeks. The bass are hot but it is pre season and your not suppose to target them . It looks like the walleyes are starting to bite so get fishing!
Here are a few pics from the last couple weeks. Thanks for sending them guys. We went ice fishing !! It was 24 degrees and the snow that was falling was blowing sideways. I would have been content to stay inside but Bailey being 9 was ready to go. So I did what any good dad would do, put on my coat and got ready to freeze. Armed with our yamaha rhino, new auger and 2 dozen minnows we set out. We set 10 tip ups and waited. Out of boredom we moved 3 tip ups and drove the rino around. After hours of horizontal blowing snow and slight frost bite there was a flag. I thought it was probably due to the 40 mph wind but Bailey was excited anyway. Bailey grabbed the line and slowly retrieved it from the hole, until it pulled back. After several anxious minutes a 34 inch 14 pound northern pike emerged from the hole. We took several pictures and carefully slid him back into the hole he came out of. We saw no other flags or fish that day but in my opinion, any day spent having fun with your son is a good day.
